Lighting
Lighting Installation in Clyde Hill, WA
Most rooms are lit from one point in the ceiling and feel flat because of it. Layering the light and getting the switching right changes a room more than new fittings do. Talk it over on (000) 000-0000.
Good lighting is mostly about where the light comes from and what controls it. A kitchen needs task light at the counter rather than a bright centre fitting that puts you in your own shadow. A living room wants two or three sources at different heights. Outside, the aim is seeing the path and the steps without lighting up the neighbours.
How it goes
What the job looks like
01
Look at the room in use
We ask how the room is used and when, because that decides the layout more than the floor plan.
02
Plan layers and controls
Ambient, task and accent, with switching and dimming grouped the way you will actually reach for it.
03
Install and set up
Fittings in, dimmers matched to the lamps, and the levels set with you before we leave.
Detail
What we watch for
- Dimming that does not flicker — LED and dimmer have to be compatible, and most flicker complaints are a mismatch
- Switching grouped sensibly — so one plate does not control three unrelated things
- Exterior light aimed down — path and step lighting that does not glare across the boundary
- Colour temperature consistent — fittings in the same room matched, so the light does not look patched together
Questions
Asked often
Why do my LEDs flicker when dimmed?
Nearly always because the dimmer was designed for incandescent lamps and the LED driver does not play well with it. Matching a modern dimmer to the lamps you have fixes it in most cases, without changing the fittings.
Can you add recessed lights without tearing up the ceiling?
Usually yes. Remodel-style housings go in through a cut-out and clip to the drywall, so the ceiling takes small, patchable openings rather than coming down. Access above makes it easier but is not always necessary.
